FREE Sensory Walks and Outdoor Experiences Training for volunteers who want to learn how to set-up and lead a Dementia Friendly Walk.

As part of our Mill Waters Project, Dementia Adventure are delivering 2 free Sensory Walk training sessions. The training aims to build confidence and develop skills to deliver supported outdoor walks and experiences for people living with dementia and their caregivers.
The FREE training consists of:
Webinar Session – 2 hours online delivered via Zoom on Wednesday 29th September at 10am – 12noon (includes a break)
or
Face to Face* – 3-hour face to face session at Mill Adventure Base on Thursday 28th October 10am – 1pm (Please arrive for 9.45am Registration)
We will use a mixture of slide presentation, video clips (providing perspective from people living with dementia) and facilitated Q & A time.
*For face-to-face training we will include outdoor practical exercises, venue specific considerations, next steps in planning and how to reach people in your community.
(Please bring comfortable shoes for short outdoor walk & dress to suit the weather.)
All Participants will receive free Resources:
Information pack including ‘Dementia & Sensory Challenges’
Walk planning template
CPD Attendance certificate
After the training, volunteers will be supported to deliver walks at our Mill Waters sites at Sutton Lawn, Kingsmill Reservoir and Hermitage Ponds and once confident to do so, volunteers will be encouraged to deliver independent walks.
